Self taught, however while at university getting a "real" degree I took 3 years of figure drawing and painting plus tons art history and design/architecture classes for fun and really pivotal in my learning and by my 4th year of school I was working full time in comics. But I'm still learning every day.
After 17 years working full time as a professional artist, it's a little difficult to pick what influences me as there has to be thousands of things, but quickly looking around my studio I would say these are some of my favorite artists and influences - Koloman Moser, John Singer Sargent, Claire Wendling, Michael Golden, , Alphonse Mucha, Travis Charest, Adam Hughes, Bruce Timm, Shane Glines, JC Leyendecker, Juanjo Guarnido, Olivier Coipel, Gil Elvgren, Frank Frazetta, Joaquim Sorolla, Frank Lloyd Wright, Victor Horta, Juanjo Guarnido, Disney animation, Masamune Shirow, Star Wars, Mike Mignola, Dave Stevens and discovering more everyday!
I did 3 years of figure drawing and painting plus some anatomy, architecture, a bunch of art history and design classes while in college. I fall back on that knowledge all the time!
